Containers to Clinics

The brilliant design idea originates with Containers to Clinics (C2C), a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization that helps to provide health care to the world’s poorest communities by creating inexpensive small clinics from recycled shipping containers.

Though the clinic is the first from the nearly two-year-old Containers to Clinics, the organization plans to roll out 50 clinics in the next 10 years to rural areas in India, Central America, and Southeast Asia underserved by medical facilities. Future containers will likely be donated by Maersk Line, the global shipping company.

“If empty shipping containers can be used to create foldout restaurants and pop-up hotel rooms, then why not pop-up health clinics?’”
